When I take allergy medicine I develop strip throat/sinus headaches?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

I have post nasal drip, and I’am scheduled to have a septoplasty and a turbinate reduction in two weeks. But I’m curious to know why is it that when I take allergy medicine I develop strip throat and sinus headaches all the time? Allergy medicine really dries up my post nasal drip, but leaves me with a strip throat and sinus headaches on and off. I was wondering why this is?
Laura, you’re an idiot.

Try this instead.
My husband uses this to keep from getting bronchitis when he gets a sinus infection, and I use it to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me — my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need

distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy. or just use a neti pot, I like this better.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don’t get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes

Carpet allergy.. I can smell the dust in the room. What are my options?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

I recently moved into a new apartment. I am regretting it now. As soon as I enter my bedroom, I can smell the dust of the carpet. I also started getting severe headaches. Steam cleaning the carpet did not help. Since I paid some deposit, I have to stay here for atleast two more months. I am getting some relief if I use flonase spray for my nose. But even that is not sufficient. I am not getting enough sleep because of the allergy and headache

What are my options? Is there any affordable solution to this problem. Is there any product available that can reduce the amount of dust in the air. Or atleast reduce the number of allergens. I can spend upto 100$.

Is it dust or possibly mold that is making your allergies bad. If it is mold and you can find it somewhere I’m sure that you could get your money back from the apartment rental company because of the unhealthy conditions of the apartment. I hope that helps.

If it’s dust then a hepafilter might be good to buy, but they can be expensive. Keep your windows open all the time and get a window fan to bring in or suck out air all day. It will help a bit.

If the problem is only in the bedroom, close that room off and sleep in the main room. It might look a little weird, but you’ll feel much better and that will be worth it.

Are there any allergy medications that are safe to take during pregnancy?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

I haven’t had a bout with allergies the entire time I’ve been pregnant until recently. We’ve had a lot of wind that has stirred up dirt and pollen, and last Wednesday I was so miserable with puffy eyes and balloon for a head that I called in.

I know Tylenol is most likely the only thing to take when pregnant, but all it can really do is relieve headaches–not allergies. Is there any form of allergy medication that is SAFE to use?

I would recommend you use the powerful antioxidant Isotonix OPC-3, it’s not a drug or medication so you wouldn’t have to worry about side-effects etc.. It is a natural supplement containing the three antioxidants grape seed extract, red wine extract, and another powerful antioxidant called Pycnogenol which is a natural plant extract from the bark of the maritime pine tree which grows exclusively along the coast of southwest France. Pycnogenol is the main antioxidant in OPC-3 that will help with your allergies. All three antioxidants are put into one supplement hence the name OPC-3. The supplement is in isotonic form when mixed with the right amount of water so you receive superior delivery and absorption in your body. it’s isotonic capable, meaning it’s the same pH levels of the other fluids in your body such as your blood, plasma, tears, etc. isotonic capable supplements are the next best thing to IV (when doctors inject medication immediately into your blood stream) or the shots you’re receiving now; when you drink a supplement that’s isotonic your stomach does not have to change it to match your body, it enters your small intestines within minutes. If your allergies are acting up, on an empty stomach once you take OPC-3 you will feel the relief within minutes because the body does not have to break down a pill or change the pH level, it is absorbed right away.
All the information on OPC-3 can be found at http://www.marketamerica.com/blittrean/index.cfm?action=shopping.wpProductNoShop&prodID=13007
At your local health and nutrition stores they sell OPC or OPC-1 for more money, and you only receive anywhere from 30% to 40% of what’s on the nutrition label due to the fact the supplement is not Isotonic capable. OPC-3 is also the only antioxidant with Pycnogenol.

Hope this helped

Can you get a headache from a unknown allergy?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

Yes you can. Most headaches are either from tension or from sinus inflamation. Allergens are likely to cause irritation and inflamation of passages in the eye, sinus areas leading to a headache.

Sinus headache without allergies – is it possible?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

I feel stupid asking this question, but here I go.

In the past, I’ve never had many problems with allergies when spring and summer roll around. This year is just the same; I’m spending a lot of time at my boyfriend’s house and everyone there has allergies (including the dog) but I’m as fit as a fiddle.

Today I’ve developed a strange headache. I was at my comptuer today but no more than usual so I wouldn’t chaulk it up to my normal migranes. When I went outside in the heat, the headache got progressively worse. I don’t have a stuffed nose, itchy eyes, or any other real allergy symptoms, but my mom is automatically telling me that my headache is being caused by allergies.

My question is this:

Is it possible to get a headache due to allergies when you don’t have any other symptoms?

And adding another question to it:

What do you think should be done about my headache? Is there anything particular I should do?

You’re right, it definitely doesn’t sound like allergies. : )

It doesn’t have to be an allergy to be a sinus problem. You could have a sinus infection. Do you feel any pressure in your head? Does your face feel tender if you press it? If not, its probably not a sinus problem since you doing have any other sinus infection symptoms, but if you do start feeling pressure in your head, or get a sore throat, runny nose, etc. then you should see your doctor, because you might need antibiotics.

Otherwise, it could be a tension headache.
Everyone gets weird headaches every once in a while. For now, I wouldn’t worry about it. You could take Ibuprofen or some other kind of pain reliever. You can also try cold or hot compresses, and hot tea.
Its possible that your headache is being caused by dehydration, so I’d suggest drinking alot of water. That will help you no matter what, especially if you are coming down with something.

If it doesn’t go away in a day or too, or gets much worse, you should probably call your doctor for advise.

I hope you feel better soon!

Headache with allergy?

Posted under Allergy Headache by admin

I have been having seasonal allergies for years. I have the regular symptoms of congestion, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes. This year for the past few days I have been suffering from blasting headaches, like someone is banging in my head. Is this also an allergy symptom? I have been taken claritin the one that melts in your mouth. Is there anything else that will work better?

you should see a doctor. A few weeks ago I had the same symptoms turns out I had a sinus infection. The doc prescribed me some antibiotics and nasal spray and I feel much better, the headaches finally went away. .
